Mary Anderson

Mary Anderson is a board-certified family medicine physician at Vieux Care in Covington. She grew up in Mobile, Alabama after being born in Columbia, South Carolina, and went on to Spring Hill College and the University of South Alabama College of Medicine before completing her residency at East Jefferson General Hospital.

It was during residency that she first learned about direct primary care and knew right away it was how she wanted to practice medicine. The model appealed to her because it builds a closer doctor-patient relationship and lets her work directly for the people she treats instead of meeting quotas for a hospital system or requirements set by an insurance company. She has a particular interest in preventing and reversing disease through lifestyle changes, and completed the Integrative Medicine in Residency program through the University of Arizona. Caring for women is another focus of hers, especially hormones and fertility, and she works as a NaPro medical consultant.

She stays active whenever she can, spends time outdoors, tries her hand at gardening, and likes cooking healthy meals, all alongside her husband, David, and son, Matthew.
