About Jacob Peterson

Jacob Peterson, MD is a board-certified physician by the American Board of Family Medicine and the American Board of Obesity Medicine.

Dr. Peterson was born and raised in Atkinson, NE. He graduated from Northwestern College in Orange City, IA with a degree in Biology- Health Professions and a concentration in Neuroscience.

He performed research in immunology and immune neurobiology through the University of Nebraska of Lincoln and University of Nebraska Medical Center before attending medical school at the University of Nebraska Medical Center (UNMC). He completed residency in 2018 in UNMC's Primary Care Program, a dual training program in internal medicine and family medicine.

Dr. Peterson started Vitality Family Healthcare in January 2023. He believes in a patient-centered approach, individualizing diagnostic and treatment plans, incorporating each patient's physiology, cultural, social, economic, and spiritual values in their care. He believes in transparent and affordable pricing for healthcare. He takes a whole-person approach, focused on preventing disease before it starts.

Dr. Peterson has special interests and training in preventative medicine, weight management, along with longevity and anti-aging medicine. In addition, Dr. Peterson has expertise in office procedures utilizing minimally invasive and ultrasound-guided techniques, resulting in improved healing time. In particular, he offers ultrasound-based carpal tunnel surgery, musculoskeletal injections, along with numerous other procedures.

Dr. Jacob Peterson is married to his high school sweetheart, Dr. Danika Peterson. Together they have four children—Adeline, Leon, Emmelyn, and Oliver. In his spare time, Dr. Peterson enjoys completing house renovation projects, wood working, exercising, hunting, fishing, and cooking for loved ones.
