Dr. T. Scott McMurry is a board certified family medicine physician at Waiola Direct Care in Kailua Kona, Hawaii. He studied biology at the University of Texas at San Antonio, earned his Doctor of Osteopathy from the University of Pikeville in 2017, and trained in family medicine with an emergency medicine concentration in Williamsport, Pennsylvania.
A second-generation rural family doctor, McMurry moved his family to Oahu in 2020 to help Hawaii through the pandemic and saw how much the state needed care. He hopes to carry on the standard set by Hawaii's missionary doctors of the 1800s, including Dr. James William Smith.
His path has included military service, from the Army's 82nd Airborne Division to his current post as a medical officer with the 1/299 Cavalry Squadron in Hilo. He and his wife settled in Kona in 2021 with their four children to bring primary care to the Big Island.
