T. Scott McMurry, DO

Dr. McMurry is board certified in Family Medicine by the American Board of Family Medicine. He completed his Bachelor's of Science in Biology from the University of Texas at San Antonio. In 2017, he graduated from the University of Pikeville College of Osteopathic Medicine as a Doctor of Osteopathy. He obtained his family medicine residency training with a concentration in emergency medicine at the University of Pittsburg Medical Center Family Medicine Residency Program in Williamsport, PA. In 2020, Dr. McMurry moved his family to Oahu to support Hawaii during the COVID-19 Pandemic. It was during that time that he realized the significant need for healthcare in the state. Dr. McMurry is a second-generation rural family doctor, so he was well aware of what it takes to provide care in an isolated community. He also hopes to uphold the high standards set by the missionary doctors of Hawaii in the 1800s, including those set by Dr. James William Smith. Dr. McMurry has a long history of military service. He previously spent time in the active duty army with the 82nd Airborne Division as an Infantryman. Currently, he serves as a medical officer with the 1/299 Cavalry Squadron in Hilo. In 2021 he moved to Kona with his wife and four children to provide primary care to the Big Island.
