JD Steed, MD

Dr. JD Steed is a family medicine physician and the founder of Walden Direct Primary Care - Downtown Ocala in Ocala.

He earned his medical degree from Wake Forest University in 1999 and completed his family medicine residency at Florida Hospital in Orlando in 2002. From 2002 to 2006 he served as a family medicine physician and clinic chief at Moody Air Force Base. After moving to the Ocala area in 2006, he practiced inpatient and outpatient medicine with the Family Doctors of Belleview, later serving as medical director of that location once it was acquired by the Villages Health in 2012. In 2017 he founded Walden Direct Primary Care, looking to make medicine more accessible and affordable.

Steed and his wife Melissa, who serves as the practice's office manager, married in 1997 and have four children spread across four different schools. He spends his spare time coaching basketball, doing volunteer service work, and traveling the world with Melissa.
