Joseph Vukin, MD, JD

Dr. Joseph Vukin is a physician at Wayfaring Pediatrics in Chapel Hill, where he built a direct primary care practice around a simple frustration with traditional medicine. He found that a hurried pace made it hard to be truly present with patients, so he moved to a much smaller panel that lets him give each family real time and easier access to comprehensive pediatric care.

Beyond the exam room, he stays involved in the policy side of pediatrics. He sits on the Board of Directors of Prevent Blindness North Carolina and serves on the Public Policy Committee of the North Carolina Chapter of the American Academy of Pediatrics, with particular interest in legislative advocacy, social determinants of health, and medical ethics.

A husband and father of two young boys, Vukin runs regularly and likes spending time outdoors with his family, along with cooking and trying out new foods in the kitchen. His wife is also his business partner in the practice.
