Dr. Byron Haney is a board-certified Family Medicine physician at Polaris Medical in Sandpoint, with more than three decades of experience in full-spectrum primary care for patients of all ages. He studied biochemistry at UC Davis, earned his medical degree from Indiana University School of Medicine, and completed his Family Medicine residency in Modesto, California.
In 1990 he founded Family Health Care of Ellensburg and built it into one of the most successful independent primary care practices in Washington State. He later served as Chief of Staff and Family Medicine Department Chair at Kittitas Valley Hospital, taught as an Associate Professor of Medicine, and worked as a principal investigator on clinical trials. Frustrated with what he calls rapid, substandard healthcare, Haney converted his practice to Direct Primary Care in 2019 and rediscovered the reward of patient-centered medicine. After a short-lived retirement, he joined Polaris Medical to keep advocating for accessible, relationship-driven care.
He spends his free time with family and his church community.
