Dr. Lori Sweat graduated from the University of Louisville School of Medicine Summa Cum Laude in 1992. She completed her residency in Internal Medicine at the University of Louisville in 1995 and was then Chief Medical Resident in Internal Medicine from 1995-96.She practiced office Internal Medicine in South Louisville for one year before founding the first Hospitalist practice in Louisville at Caritas Medical Center in 1997. She practiced as a Hospitalist until 2002 then took time off to be a full-time mom to her two children.During those 4 years away from practicing medicine, she was introduced to the concept of Bioidentical Hormone Replacement Therapy and began studying that field with vigor. She quickly recognized how important multisystem hormone balance is to health, wellness, and aging, and the need in her community for a medical approach that focuses on that as a foundation of preventative health. In 2006, she founded Integrative Hormone Specialists, the first practice in Louisville dedicated solely to BHRT and Functional Medicine. Since then, she has been privileged to treat hundreds of patients in KY and numerous other states, restoring to them their former sense of well-being and vitality. One of her favorite mottos is "Ancora Imparo" which translates to "I am still learning", and she is continuously learning new and integrative approaches to her craft to help her patients achieve their personal best health goals. She believes each patient should be met where they are in their health and should be treated as an individual as well as a unique whole-body system. Her goal is to help guide her patients with information and education so they may navigate their own best health course. She enjoys getting to know each patient very deeply and is grateful for the Functional Medicine model which allows her to spend time doing so. She often has multiple members of a given family under her care and loves how that adds to the depth of her relationships with her patients.
