David Willis

David Willis is a board certified family physician at Sabal Direct Primary Care in Ocala, Florida, and recently completed a term as Chief Medical Officer for Heart of Florida Health Center in Marion County. He earned his undergraduate degree in mathematics at Stetson University, then went on to medical school at the University of South Florida in Tampa. He completed his residency at the Florida Hospital Family Practice Residency in Orlando in 2000 before returning to Ocala to practice.

Willis has spoken locally and nationally on topics ranging from stroke and diabetes to men's health and health information technology. He chose direct primary care for two reasons, wanting a slower schedule that leaves more room for patients, and recognizing how many people in Marion County lack affordable insurance and could benefit from a predictable monthly cost for care.

He and his wife, a nurse, have two daughters who keep busy with dance.
