Dr. Baker is a board-certified family physician. She grew up downstate Illinois and graduated with honors from The University of Chicago. She then attended medical school at Southern Illinois University. After receiving her MD from SIU, she completed residency training in family medicine at Shadyside Hospital in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.While in Pittsburgh, Dr. Baker worked in public health service and academic medicine, on the faculty of her residency program. She has a special interest in women's health and was the physician for a small women's college in Pittsburgh and did grant funded research in obstetrics.In 1997, Dr. Baker moved to northern Illinois and has worked in a variety of practice settings: private practice, public health service, academic medicine, and corporate medicine. Her scope of practice has ranged from routine wellness care to delivering babies at home. While she no longer practices obstetrics, she does continue to provide women's health care as well as wellness care, acute care, and chronic disease management for people of all ages.Dr. Baker and her husband have six children, one grandchild, and one very energetic dog.
