Brett Winkeler, MD

Dr. Brett Winkeler is a family physician at Rural Family Direct Care in Freeburg. He grew up in New Baden, Illinois, and met his wife, Jennifer, while studying at Quincy University for undergrad. Medical school took him to the University of Illinois at Rockford, and he completed his residency at Spartanburg Regional Hospital in Spartanburg, South Carolina, where he served as chief resident.

He joined the practice in 2008. Sports injuries are a particular interest of his, though he enjoys seeing patients of every age.

Home is Smithton, where he lives with Jennifer and their two children, Sophie and Alex. He's an avid golfer and volunteers coaching local youth sports teams, and he's looking forward to being back on the sidelines for FCHS home football games.
