Is Direct Primary Care legal in Ohio?

Can an Ohio DPC doctor charge additional fees beyond the membership agreement?

No. Ohio's law goes further than most states here. Under § 3901.95(J), the agreement must "prohibit the health services provider from charging or receiving any fee other than the fees prescribed in the agreement for those services prescribed in the agreement." Every fee for covered services has to be spelled out in the agreement itself.

Either party can terminate a DPC agreement in Ohio just by giving written notice. Under § 3901.95(C–F), termination takes effect immediately on receipt or within no more than 60 days, and neither side can be charged a termination penalty or fee.
